Track Guidelines
Impala owners have always been meticulous in taking care of their cars, however ISSCA would like to remind you of a few minimum checks while preparing for the events!
Fluids:
Fuel – There are several fuel stations located near CMS, and the zMAX Dragway. Before you fire up the morning of the events, make sure you check your Oil, Coolant/Water and Brake fluid levels. There are also a few local speed shops, and repair facilities in town in case you need a last minute item.
Tires:
We recommend 32 – 36 psi. Check them in the morning during the fluid checks and set tire pressures while they are cold.
Driving:
The goal is to maximize your driving time with the focus being on safety and a quality experience for everyone.
Mandatory Safety Rules:
Helmets must be worn on the road course, drag strip, and while auto crossing at all times. Helmets must be Snell 2005 or newer.
Seat belts must be worn at all times while competing, and while driving around the NC area. “Click It or Ticket”
No passengers other than the Auto Cross and slower Bracket Racing Classes will be allowed.
Remember long pants and closed toe shoes required at all driving events.
For those who have STD. trans equipped vehicles. In the event of a spin use both feet! ( Full brake, full clutch)

Please note that if you are uncertain about any modification that you have made, plan to make or was made prior to your ownership, please consult the National Car Show Judge before the show for clarification.
Stock
Stock is defined as the way the vehicle was shipped from the factory. Any visible modification will place the vehicle into the next higher modification class. (Examples: Red Bow Tie, Cross Flags, CD Changer, etc.) There are several exceptions as follows:
1. Tires – any brand you choose. However, they must be in the factory size and speed rating.
2. Exhaust – Any muffler may be used as long as the factory size exhaust tubing remains. Resonators must still be intact. No muffler deletes, catalytic converter deletes, and no “H” or “X” pipes allowed.
3. Windshields – Must be to GM factory specifications for year of vehicle (e.g. no Sungate windshields allowed prior to 1995.)

BOI – Best overall Impala
The system for scoring BOI at the ISSCA Nationals 2011 is designed, as much as
possible, to allot equal points to all events in the competition.
The events to be included in BOI are:
• Car Show
• Sound Off (a two part event)
• Road Course
• Autocross
• Drag Racing
The Impala that amasses the greatest number of points as an aggregate in these
events will be deemed to be the Best Overall Impala (BOI). It is not necessary
to enter all events to participate, but is not likely that missing an event will
allow a win. There will not be any places that will be awarded other than first
place.
The points available to BOI entries will be based on placement in each of the
events. The placement will be among all entries in each event. (I.e. a third
place will be awarded third place points no matter how many of the entries
finishing above are entered in BOI).
In each event, an entry will be awarded points as follows:
• Car Show – Twenty (20) points for a completed judges sheet PLUS additional
points based on placement (i.e. twenty (20) points for first place, nineteen
(19) points for second place, eighteen (18) points for third place, etc. to a
maximum of 20 places). Therefore, the first place entry will total forty (40)
points, second will be thirty-nine (39) and so on to twentieth place which will
be twenty-one (21) points.
• Sound Off – Twenty (20) points will be awarded for demonstrating a working
system. PLUS, additional points based on placement (i.e. ten (10) points for
first place, nine (9) points for second place etc as above to a maximum of ten
places) will be awarded for entries in the dB Drag portion of the competition.
ADDITIONALLY, points will be awarded for placement in the Sound Quality portion
of the Sound Off event. As in dB Drag portion, the first ten places will be
awarded points ranging from ten (10) points for first place to one (1) point for
tenth place. The maximum points that any entry may be awarded will be forty (40)
points in this event. NOTE: Placement points will not be awarded to any entry
presenting a stock or substantially stock system. Demonstrated working system
points (20) only, will be awarded to such stock or substantially stock entries.
• Road Course – Twenty (20) points will be awarded for each entry that
successfully completes one lap without a DNF or black flag. PLUS additional
points based on placement (i.e. twenty (20) points for first place, nineteen
(19) points for second place, eighteen (18) points for third place, etc. to a
maximum of 20 places). Therefore, the first place entry will total forty (40)
points, second will be thirty-nine (39) and so on to twentieth place which will
total twenty-one (21) points.
• Autocross – Twenty (20) points will be awarded for each entry that
successfully completes one lap without a DNF or black flag.
• Drag Race – The scoring for BOI Bracket Race points will be conducted in the
Drag race in a little different manner. Only the Bracket racing will count
towards BOI. All entrants who complete the first round (win or lose) will
receive 20 points. Failure to do so will result in a DNF and 0 points for the
event. The winner of the event/class will receive 20 points for an event point
total of 40 points. Second place will receive 19 points for an event point total
of 39 points. The semi final round loser’s margin of loss will be analyzed to
determine who was closest to their dial-in without breaking out; the entrant
with the smallest margin of error will be awarded third place points. The other
semi final round loser will be awarded fourth place points. Thereafter,
depending on the size of the class, points will be awarded as follows: All “BYE”
runs will be awarded to the entrant with the best reaction time during the prior
round. All fouls, red lights, crossing the centerline, etc. will lose. The Drag Race Chairman
will be the final arbitrator in all disputes.
• Tie Breaker – In the event that 2 participants are tied in points, then the
participant with the highest place finish in the drag race will win. If this
can’t determine the winner, then the participant closest to their dial-in
without breaking out from their last round will win.
